FFCS Asia Grand Finals Preview

The moment that you all had been waiting for is finally here. A year’s worth of hard work and effort has gone into this. We’ve worked hard to organize Free Fire’s biggest tournament of the year, against all the odds. The Grand Finals of the Free Fire Continental Series Asia 2020 will begin today. Teams from all over the continent have either worked hard to qualify directly from their regional championships or battled it out via the play-ins. Today, all their effort will bear fruit, and we will crown a new champion. Let’s take a look at the contenders.

1. Total Gaming Esports

Hailing from India, they qualified via the Free Fire India Championship Fall 2020. The other two Indian teams failed to make it through the Play-Ins, making them the only Indian team in the competition now. Representing the hopes and dreams of 1.2 Billion people, Total Gaming Esports has a big responsibility on their shoulders. Their biggest strength is their adaptability. A lot of it is because of Vasiyo, who has had the experience of international tournaments. MafiaBala is a fast sniper with a sharp aim, we’ve seen him pull off impossible clutches with his zoombangers. A few months ago when they were under the banner of “The Mafias”, they were able to finish 3rd in Free Fire Asia All-Stars. Considering that they have grown a lot since then, they are likely to perform like an incredibly well-oiled machine tomorrow.

2. Heavy

Heavy is a Vietnamese Free Fire team that has had a meteoric rise to success. They consist of PhuDai, 3K, KimChon, Banh, and PanDa. They were formed just before the Summer Season of Arena of Survival 2020. They ended up getting top 2 finishes in both the Summer and Winter seasons. Their focus is more on playing passively. They drop in quiet spots and rotate safely into the zone. But when the opportunity presents itself, they don’t hesitate resorting to violence. Their win condition is enabling Banh to pop off. He is their star player who almost always ended up placing well in the top-fragger charts. He is proficient in sniping as well as using the M79 Grenade Launcher. Facilitating him to carry them in the later stages of the game will enable them to win.

3. Geek Fam

Previously known as Team NoXscape, consisting of Tuan, Voxx, Akiq, and Haziq, they won 4th place in the Free Fire Malaysia Open 2020 in March. Later on in October, they were able to win the Free Fire Tri-Nation Cup. In between the two tournaments, they have had a massive improvement in their skill level and rotations. They will prioritize getting into the zone and positioning themselves safely as long as it is viable. But while being aggressive, their discipline is their strongest suit. Having a clear distinction in roles, such as rusher and support, as long as following the in-game leader’s instructions, this clarity in roles and responsibilities helps them be consistent every time. Their strongest players are Haziq and Shoyu. In May 2020, Haziq placed 4th in Free Fire Malaysia Solos, getting the most damage, kills, and survival time. Shoyu on the other hand is a lethal player who was placed in the top fragger charts every week of the Tri-Nation Cup.

4. House of Blood

House of Blood is the champion of the FFCS Pakistan Qualifier 2020. They are a fierce team with a lot of firepowers. They are also very flexible with their drop spots on Bermuda and Kalahari. Only in Purgatory, they prefer to land at Fire Station. They don’t hesitate to pick up early fights. Although it’s a risky playstyle, it will be worth the risk if their aim backs them up. One person whose aim is certainly on point is Kai. Known as “The beast of Pakistan’, he had insane kill and damage numbers in the qualifiers.

5. EVOS Esports

Evos Esports is the most dominant team from Indonesia. They were the champions of FFIM Season 1 and Fall Season 2020, as long as a strong contender in the World Championship 2019. They rely on dropping on the Northern sides of each map and then rotate like they know all the positions of their opponents. They define the META, as they maximize their points with a dangerous mix of aggression combined with safety. Like a tank, slow but indestructible, they trample everything in their path as they make their way in. Their captain SAM13 made 97 kill points in the FFML League Stage all by himself, and they were the only team to breach the 200 point barrier.

6. EVOS Thailand

As if EVOS Esports wasn’t dominant enough, behold the other line-up from Thailand. In the Pro League Season 1 and 2, they were the 1st runner ups. Then they changed their lineup and picked up two-star players. They are JOENA (from Illuminate) and THECRUZ (player with the most kills in the previous finals). And this change resulted in some massive improvements for the team. They focus on playing in the center of the map and assert dominance over a position of their choice. With a star-studded lineup stacked with firepower, they are fully capable of asserting control over whatever area they want.

7. Burst the Sky

BTS is a Vietnamese team that was formed after the acquisition of Team Quality and is the third-seeded team from their country. They like to split up 2-2 and play aggressively. They use vehicles effectively to rotate quickly and get into favorable positions, while the other duo provides support from far away. This way they can dominate both close-range and long-range battles. BTS Beo is a player with great mechanical as well as leading skills. He will be a player to keep an eye on.

8. V Gaming

V Gaming is the most successful team of Free Fire Esports Vietname in 2020. They are the champions of the Arena Of Survival Spring and Summer seasons, and they also finished second in the Winter Season. They are a balanced team, who have the ability to time their attacks really well. The team’s captain BinXu is known for his devastating shotgun combat skill at close range, whereas DacLop is a notorious all-rounder who can frag out of his mind. He is adept at judging the opponent’s moves and calmly reconfigures his fighting style to counter them.

9. RRQ Hades

RRQ Hades used to be the kings of Indonesian Free Fire before the arrival of EVOS Esports. As the players left, the captain Legaeloth fought against obscurity even though he was the only remaining member of the team. After picking up three new players and having very little time to prepare, they still proved their worth by qualifying for the FFCS Finals via the play-ins. They are an extremely aggressive team, to the extent that they don’t hesitate to sacrifice themselves in order to get opponents eliminated.

10. Team Knights

Team Knights are the surprise element of this championship, the dark horses. Their playstyle is obscure but effective at certain times. They don’t fight aggressively, but they do spread out and aggressively gather information. It’s the execution and using that information effectively that beats them. However, in weird circles that screw over teams, they are the team that’s most likely to adapt well.

11. King Of Gamers Club

King of Gamers Club (abbreviated KOG) is a force to be reckoned with. Their performance in the play-ins was devastating, as they were the only team to come close to 200 points in the Play-ins. They showed a whole new level of dominance by winning two booyahs. Their star player, Kevin is too good with his sniping skills as he just doesn’t seem to ever miss. Their two new players JLX and GetBu increased their level of skill to a whole new level.

12. EXP Esports

EXP Esports is a sneaky team. They drop in low-loot locations and prefer to avoid early game engagements. But the best part about them is the fact that they can sustain themselves even with little to no resources. They fly under the radar until they find a favorable position, and then the only thing that pops up on the radar (and the kill feed) is EXP Esports. They’re one of the original teams of Thailand, having participated in all three seasons of the Free Fire Pro League in Thailand. Even if they didn’t qualify for the finals of Season 2, they never gave up.
